AUSCOAL Super transitions to a new administration platform
After 18 months of planning, we successfully transitioned to a new super administration platform.
AUSCOAL Services General Manager, Steve Grant, said this project was the largest information technology project in the Fund’s 69 year history.
'The new administration system will provide greater efficiency, improved access, functionality and reporting capabilities for everyone, while the launch of our new secure website has provided great benefits for members and employers.’
Member benefits
'For instance, members now have complete control of their accounts, including updating their details, checking correspondence, viewing their account history and managing their investment choice. Members can also check their insurance, update beneficiaries and roll over other funds into AUSCOAL Super in a fully secure e-commerce environment,’ Grant said.
Electronic filing cabinet
A great new feature includes an electronic filing cabinet, which will help to significantly reduce paper use.
‘AUSCOAL Super has initiated an education campaign to encourage members to discard existing paper-based files, as these are now available online in an electronic format,’ Grant said.
Employer benefits
Employers will also find the new secure site makes managing their super obligations easier.
Grant said, ‘employers can now check and update their contact and employee details, manage and submit contribution returns, transfer funds and advise employee terminations in real time.'
Positioned for future growth
According to Bruce Watson, Chief Executive Officer of AUSCOAL Super, the system is extremely flexible. ‘We believe it will position us well for future industry initiatives and keep us firmly focused on servicing our membership and growth’.
‘We selected our new administration system after a thorough review of all providers. We believed they understood the superannuation industry and how to improve both our business processes and customer service at the same time. The standard of superannuation administration and service for members and employers has entered an entirely new era and the coal industry will be one of the first to enjoy the benefits,’ Watson said.
’All our staff, including many that members and employers speak to or meet every day, worked hard to ensure the changeover was completed with as little disruption as possible. With a system change of this magnitude, it is inevitable there will be some teething problems and we continue to work with our members and employers to iron these out. We thank everyone for their patience during this period.’
